Our first blog post!

We have been meaning to blog our gardening experiences for some time now and with the start of a new year, it seemed as good a time as any.

We (Adam and Sophie) have been gardening for about 2 years now in my parents back garden. Self-confessed amateurs we have taught ourselves, mostly by trial and error, the ways of the garden! It is safe to say we have caught the bug for ‘growing your own’ and for us that always means from seed. Cooking and eating the fruits (or veg) of your labour months after first sowing the seed is the reason for our continued passion for gardening.

This year we plan to:

  • Try out some more unusual varieties of veg (purple potatoes last year were a hit)
  • Grow PEA SHOOTS! (Why have we not grown them before?! So quick and easy and delicious)
  • Construct another living wall
  • Establish gooseberry plants
  • And much much more!

For now though, as we wait for sowing time to come around we will be stuffing as much compost as we can into the nutrient drained raised beds and enjoying long country walks!

We would love to know when you start to gear up your garden for spring?

Sophie

      1. I think I ordered too many seeds! But I have ordered carrots, beetroot, brussell sprouts, sweetcorn, cabbage, kale, onions, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks, French beans and parsnips!! I think that’s all. I just want to have a good variety and try and grow as much as I can!
